It’s already 2nd of March, which means I’m late in getting a birthday present for my father, which happens to be on this Sunday.

I’m not someone who spent hours after hours in some malls, looking for the right thing. I’m someone who’s starting an Internet search engine to compare the costs of the neat present at different online stores who have a good reputation.

After I found the right one, I just fast and forward through the “Buy Now” process, usually using PayPal - because it’s really fast and my distributor gets his money right away, so he’s going to ship my order.

Well. Not today. I got stuck in something called “Security Review”.
Which means: My distributer will get the money in around 7 days, while PayPal will get it from my bank account tomorrow.
The follow-up: The “fast and secure” payment will take a week or even longer and I will miss the birthday for sure.
(My distributor is going to ship the order, after they received the money…)

I contacted the vendor - and cancelled the order. I placed a new order and paid with my credit card.
I contacted the (expensive) PayPal hotline - and of course they told me, it’s not possible to cancel the order. They are going to collect my money and I should contact my vendor, who can transfer my money back.
Oh, and for sure, there would be a popup window telling me about the “This payment will be security reviewed - before it’s done” thing.

Using popup blocker, there was no popup window. (And no messages about blocked windows, too.) The “service” crew on the expensive phone hotline also told me to read the notes in “small print” somewhere in a corner of the transaction, before I’m going to process it and press the “Ok” button.

Well… even if there was a small print note, I did not recognize it, because I used this transaction window already several times (with the same bank account behind…) -> and I’m not going to read the whole document every time I use it.
Of course… I should do… but who does?
BTW, the note telling me about the security review after I clicked the “OK” button was large and eye-catching.

Nevertheless, PayPal is no longer my pay pal.
I already cancelled the order at my distributor… I called my bank to block the incoming PayPal transaction - and I’m going to quit the PayPal account as soon as possible.

I don’t trust them anymore.

And I don’t give my bank account and credit card data to someone who’s playing with my money - who’s having an expensive phone hotline with unfriendly and not helping “service” members. FYPP.
